Gender Equity in Media Society (GEMS) is thrilled to announce the participants for the 2023 Emerging TV Producers Program (ETVP), an initiative providing ten BC-based women and gender diverse creators with the skills, strategies, and mentorship to launch their careers in the Canadian television industry.
“Thanks to the generous support of the Canada Media Fund, BC Arts Council, and Warner Access Canada, this year’s ETVP Program promises to be an incredibly valuable opportunity for our selected participants. BC has no shortage of talent and stories, and GEMS is proud to support these ten emerging producers in working towards their first narrative series productions,” says Anaïsa Visser, Executive Director of GEMS.
"I came into this program with just a script and a pitch deck. Now I have a full project about to be pitched to streamers by a large production company,” says RaeAnne Boon, 2022 ETVP participant. “My project's success is 100% owed to this program. GEMS changed my life and gave me so much, I can’t even articulate it all. All I can say is THANK YOU.”
During Phase 1 of 2 of the ETVP program, participants will attend an in-person, hands-on, five-day workshop in Vancouver. They will learn how to assess opportunities, navigate funding applications, create budgets, pitch their projects, and make connections specific to the television industry. During Phase 2, participants will apply what they’ve learned and work with an experienced mentor to assist them with packaging their projects for development funding and/or industry markets. Mentors and mentees will be paired based on their relatable lived experiences, vision, and goals.
